@Brink - I accidentally stumbled on this, but I accidentally installed 6.0.1.8328 on my Windows 8.1 machine and it went in just fine. It was when I was updating my log that I had a note that mentioned here in the forum the highest version is 6.0.1.8199. My system is an AsRock Z97 board, but is it ok to leave 8328?

Or is it official that 8199 is the last version for Windows 8.1 for now? I mean I see other versions mentioned here, but it seems they are specific to like ASUS boards and what not. Just want clarification what version should a Windows 8.1 system be on. Thanks for your work and your help. Chip is 01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0900.

Hello AirPower4ever, :)

Sure, it'll be fine to leave 6.0.1.8328 installed.

Not being pushy or anything, but why is the beginning of the thread at 8199? If we can go further in driver should it not be changed? Just trying to understand what's going on as I frequent the site to check on things.

Thanks again Brink!!

No worries.

8199 is the last one with "Windows 8/8.1" listed as being officially supported in the "Products" description.

Ahh, so one can use the newer ones, but if problems crop up it may be why. Funny, I have updated two items; Intel ME and the Realtek audio and I have been having stutter in my mouse movements. I'll try un-installing 8328 and installing 8199 and see if that clears things. If not then Intel ME 1057 back to 1045

Thanks Brink, have a good one

although you can install v6.0.1.8397 under Win8/8.1 even though it's listed for either Win7 or Win10.
I had no problems with 8397 on a Toshiba laptop running Win8.1.
