Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 8

To my surprise, the newest beta driver(306.02) failed to install!
Error message before installation(During System Check phase): "The NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows."

I installed the newest beta driver again(306.02) and it works this time! (Probably because it upgrade from 302.80)

Btw, it seems the nvidia driver scan (from the website) doesn't detect my driver version. Did you have the same problem?

Anyone with the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 should stick with Windows 7. The tx2000z appears to give up capability under Windows 8. I installed Windows8Pro x64 on Sunday and the Windows Experience Index dropped from 3.0 to 2.7. Specifically, the Graphics measurement dropped from 3.3 with Win7 to 2.7 with Win8. That was enough to make Microsoft Flight Simulator stop performing.

WINDOWS EXPERIENCE INDEX (WEI)

HP tx2000z Win7HPx64 4GB: 3.0 (5.2, 5.9, 3.3, 3.0, 5.2)
HP tx2000z Win8PROx64 4GB: 2.0 (5.2, 5.9, 2.7, 3.0, 5.2)

Index Breakdown Win8
Processor: 5.2
Memory (RAM): 5.9
Graphics: 2.7
Gaming graphics: 3.0
Primary hard disk: 5.2

Graphics
Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
Total available graphics memory 1071 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 64 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 1007 MB
Display adapter driver version 7.15.11.7991
Primary monitor resolution 1280x800
DirectX version DirectX 9

Since HP has pretty much abandoned us for driver updates, I went to NVIDIA to download the latest Windows 8 x64 update for the GeForce Go 6150 at
Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers . Using Option 2, I let NVIDIA identify my OS and graphics unit to suggest the latest driver. This was the result:
-----------
NVIDIA Driver Downloads
Installed Driver GeForce Go 6150 179.91
The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.

The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates must come from the notebook manufacturer. Additionally, the desktop GeForce graphics drivers will not install on Geforce M series and Quadro M series notebook GPU's.

Since the computer is 4.5 years old, HP is not supporting it anymore so I will probably need to reinstall Windows 7 to continue to use it for flight training.

Evening folks,

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere...
I was experiencing all sorts of corrupted screen graphics and text, with artifacts all over the place when trying to install Windows 8. My PC has onboard graphics, and I had purchased a GTX 550 TI 2gb card too. That worked fine in Windows 7, but Windows 8 hates it. I have the 306.97 drivers installed. If I take the card out, Windows is fine. The bios WAS set up so that the initial video graphics was in the PEG setting, and the second bios entry was set to 'enable if no PEG'.

Can anyone advise? As soon as the card is inserted into the pc, and the pc started up, windows goes haywire :(.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

** EDIT due to blond moment **

Just realised that when I installed my GTX 550 Ti under Windows 7, I'd uninstalled my Nforce 6150 SE onboard graphics, then installed the GTX...
On installing Windows 8, the Nforce chipset was installed automatically. I hadn't taken that into account when trying to run the PC under 8, hence my garbled graphics and problems.
If I disable (as opposed to uninstalling) the Nforce display adapter, should I then be able to install and use the GTX card?

Thanks in advance.

Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

I have this problem too on my HP pavilion tx1340ea ..graphics perfect in win7 ult-64 multi screens...issues installing NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 drivers in win8 Enterprise Trial-64 (initially only wanted to install MS basic driver which gave very lo res and would not allow screen extension), with help I managed to jerry rig older versions of NVIDIA graphics and coprocessor drivers to enable multi screen / higher resolutions, but have an ongoing problem with blackscreen / screen "stutter" especially when running ie9..

If anyone finds or mods some drivers that overcome this I would be delighted to hear of it.

I have tried modifying 306.97 nv_disp.inf file for x64 but when I try updated drivers the GO6150 still does not appear on the dropdown list asking which driver required..ideas anyone?

Hi All
Not a knower of graphics but seek help...and apologies if covered elsewhere. I am quite new here so be gentle :)
I have Windows 8, with SyncMaster S23B370 LED Monitor and nvidia geforce GT610 card with latest released driver 306.97.
I get a black screen up to the pre login screen and the biggest problem is it wont come out of sleep and even out of turn of screen after 10min mode. I have got the screen to turn on after I turn the monitor off and back on at the touch button on the monitor. I have noticed quite a lot of hits on google for this but no real answers.
Any clues?
Thank a lot
Ray
