Hello,
I've just installed AMD Radeon Software Version - 16.12.1 Edition Crimson ReLive and now, after 5 minutes of inactivity, my laptop screen goes blank and stays blank even when I press any keys or use the touchpad. I have to force shut-down the laptop and restart it everytime this happens. Though, even before installing Crimson ReLive, I had "Turn off display after" to 5 minutes on battery as well as on plugged-in modes ("Balanced" Power plan settings) but the screen would lit-up as soon as I would use the keypad/touchpad but not since the installation. I would like the display to turn-off after 5 minutes, but, would also like it turn back on upon any keypad/touchpad activity.
I tried/observed:
1) I uninstalled Crimson ReLive using amdcleanuputility and the problem was solved, so, I know its Crimson ReLive that's changing some setting that I can't figure out or just messing it up.
2) Unchecked "allow additional power-savings." under Switchable Graphics Global Settings.
3) Power, HDD,WiFi LEDs are on even when the screen goes blank.

I use Windows 8.1 (64 bit) with System Memory - 4 GB
CPU Type - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz

Can someone please help?

Which GPU do you have there ? You may need to download driver specifically for mobile GPUs.

I have AMD Radeon HD 8670M Series GPU. So, I went to Download Drivers and chose a driver from the list of available drivers:Step 1: Select the type of product that you have:
Notebook Graphics

Step 2: Select the product family your product belongs to:
Radeon HD Series


Step 3: Select your product:
Radeon HD8xxxM Series


Step 4: Select the supported operating system that you have:
Windows 8.1 - 64 bit

Step 5: Display Results:

I have installed this. I hope this is the correct one.

Did you do clean install or upgrade ? Maybe you should start with earlier one?

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]I had reinstalled 16.12.1 and then, without uninstalling it, I installed 16.12.2 (no errors occurred). Now, just have to wait for 5 minutes and watch what happens, I guess? Is there any setting that, in your opinion, I should be tweaking?

The problem seems to have been resolved after installing AMD Radeon Software Version - 16.12.2 Edition Crimson ReLive (without uninstalling the 16.12.1 version). So, now, the screen comes back alive at any keypad/touchpad activity. I will, however, check for any other issues of the same type and report back, if any. Thanks much @CountMike !
