Latest AMD Catalyst Graphics Driver for Windows 8

W8 im using Start8 i tryed in wi8.1 and don't work wich 8.1 u recomended, i use mi computer to play games and do some Video Encoding ... i'm guessing 8.1 Pro or Ultimate ?

i have here in mi DVD's
1- Win81AIO-20in1-x64-en-US-Nov2013
2- WIN8.1AIO

should i stay away from N Versions ??

not sure what "N" is, I had W7HP OEM on this HP laptop, I upgraded to W8Pro x64 back when it first came out via on line, (later burned me an ISO) , than used the store free update to 8.1, the UP1 was a bit of a PITA, had to get hold of a torrent ISO that had the up1 in it to be able to install it on my machine, using a public install key and than validating my retail copy with my W8 pro retail key.

But any of those 3rd party programs work with no problems on my W8.1.1 now.

btw: there is no W8 "ultimate"

sorry i had my mind thinking W7, i'll give a try to W 8.1 later, my last Experience was not good, some games don't work on it, specially some that may requare Windows live ... some kinda old ones thou ...

Might want to try and actually buy Windows 8/8.1 instead of using a torrented pre-activated version. That and you will get zero help from anyone here until you do.

sorry my friend, i'm from cuba my friend, no mean to offence, i can't buy any windows here, only pre-activated and public keys works, so is that or nothing, and is not my fault about the politics from U.S.A, so i don't care about that, they want me to pay for ? well lift the embargo if not, then screw'em ..,

WHQL is an acronym for Windows Hardware Quality Labs.
The Labs provide various test suites for hardware and software including suites which allow device drivers to be tested and 'signed'. A 'signed' driver is deemed stable and ready for use on a specific operating system such as Windows XP and Microsoft allows the vendor to claim that it is "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP". Products that meet the compatibility requirements are also allowed to display Windows logos on product packaging, advertising and other marketing materials, indicating that the product has met the standards of Microsoft and that the product has been designed to work with the Windows operating systems.

i'm using 14.4 WHQL still, better wait for the official release ... i don't like betas ...

Stable release does not guarantee anything. Stable version of drivers from NVIDIA and ATI literally burned some GPUs. A difference is basically, that a stable version contains bugs, no one knows about. Beta or RC contains known bugs, that will be fixed. I always use alfa, beta or whatever is available.

I'm not sure if going any further with these updates on a laptop that is running a 4 yr old gpu is of much use now, seems the changes effect mainly 3 newer cards. I did install the 14-7 rc2 which didn't look much different than the 14-6, so I doubt rc3 would be/do much different either. I don't have any major games here as it is. Its kinda ironic in a way though, now that I'm able to at least use these drivers instead of the OEM HP outdated crap.

I think I'll wait and see what the next WHQL (final) driver says/does, but I think I'm wasting my time continuing to update these drivers for this Radeon 7690mxt.

haha, i test it with mi HD7850 and this crap only instaled Catalyst no drivers ... so i still using 14.4 WHQL

Most of the improvements are for gaming issues. Just have to read the change log to see if you will benefit.

I have one through Avast.---



They are not free as far as I can tell, but get around "not available in your location".

I don't see it listed on the AMD graphics driver site........

I'm also a bit leary since I don't see/know if this is useable on laptops, ie I usually d/l the "mobility" driver. So would need to know if this is an inclusive driver for both desktop and laptop. The download name from your link only implies desktop.

btw: beta drivers do seem to be unified for both.
