KB5001403: Servicing stack update for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2: April 13, 2021

This update applies to the following:

• Windows 8.1 for 32-bit systems

• Windows RT 8.1
• Windows Server 2012 R2
• Windows Server 2012 R2 (Server Core installation)

Summary

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) makes sure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

I welcome this servicing stack update. I have had great problems with Windows 8.1 updates for many months but everything seems to have settled down after KB5001403 was installed and Windows Modules Installer and its Worker are once again behaving themselves, at least for now.

THIS HAS CAUSED ME PROBLEMS I CANT USE CERTAIN WEBSITES AND APPARENTLY I CAN'T REMOVE IT STUPID!

There seems to be no mention of a problem with KB5001403 when I searched Google for it. My Windows 8.1 installation has been problem free since KB5001403 was installed on 15 April 2021.
