Hi

I tried to install a stand alone download of Windows 8.1 Update but I get a message that it is installed,

I'm do not see how it could be installed, this install of my OS is only 1 day old and I have only downloaded and installed the 8.1 SP this morning.

When I look in Installed update the KB2919355 is shown as being installed but the date is the 19th March,
which was before it was released, I believe.

How can I be sure I have the update installed?

Thanks

Daniel

Hi Shawn, thanks for your help, it looks like the Start screen in step 2 Option One, but any ideas on why it is dated 19th march?

There are six updates listed as Installed On 19th march, the rest are dated with todays date 10 April (my time).

I have formatted and clean installed twice since the 19th march.

Cheers

Daniel

I'm not sure why it has that date for you. Did you install any of the leaks that came out about that time?

Hi Shawn

this suggests malware, I am not aware of installing anything that was not a part of a Windows 8 and Windows Update install nor have I downloaded anything except from the MS site.

I did install Windows 8.1 Update on the day it was released, this was done through Windows Update but I have formatted and clean installed twice since then.

Cheers

Thanks Brink - this was really helpful, as I was also trying to find a way to verify if I'd been updated. (I had)

Is there any reason not to just keep using the shortcuts I set up (via your awesome tutorials) on my start screen?

Sure, you can safely continue to use the shortcuts if you like. Windows is yours to make as you like. :)
