Solved Is Nvidia driver working on windows 8 ?

I can confirm the one I downloaded from Nvidia work fine , they include Windows 8 in their drivers search;

You need to download the Nvidia 295.73 WHQL drivers from the Nvidia site. The Nvidia drivers that are automatically installed when installing Windows 8 are out of date. Use one of the links above to download and install the 295.73 WHQL drivers.

I don't think it supports OpenGL yet though, despite the brief mention in the release notes, or at least as completely as in Win7. An even newer version (the first in the 9.x series) was pushed out on Thursday, and it doesn't either. Angry Birds, for example, spits up an error about OpenGL, where on Win7 it ran. Likewise, an obscure program called Algodoo manages to run, but is so slow as to be unusable.

I just reinstalled Windows 8 and left it to its own devices so to speak...and it loaded it's own Nvidia driver/control panel etc. via Windows Update (set to get updates for everything using Microsoft Update) the first time I ran it...296.17...one which I can't even find on Nvidia's download pages. Works fine although I don't game so I'd leave that judgement to others.

As mentioned Nvidia's driver 295.73 WHQL for Win7, will install just fine in windows 8, and then OpenGL is fully (AFAIK) supported.

OpenGL still a no-go on Win8, even with the brand-new 9.18.12.9617. Amazing. Anyone see anything different?

I haven't tried that particular app, but does it have a fallback position where it still runs but just more slowly, like Algodoo does for me? Angry Birds, OTOH, just flat-out says, no, sorry. Aida64 shows no OpenGL above v1.1. The other possibility is that they haven't enabled OpenGL for all their normally supported cards, just some of them.

Well, here Quake 3 plays very well in OpenGL after installing the new WHQL driver, and also after the even newer 296.17 driver. I have still to see an OpenGL program that don't work.

Nvidia card had some issues with perspective lines; would work fine the clap out. Trying ati card now and have no issues as yet.
