its still working today! :D

but im asking myself, what is the point of preinstalling trial versions of antiviruses on new bought laptops? i mean its only the trial version for 30 days, which you can donwload if you want. if it was a better offer like 3 months or a years subscription i would understand it, but this no!

are laptop producers, in my case sony, aware that this causes problems to the customers? since, like you said ,windows defender is a component of windows where is the logic in installing another antivir?

It's an agreement the PC/Laptop makers have with the security companies and they both benefit from it and thereby costs to you, the consumer, are kept down, in theory at least. As far as whether or not one should install 3rd party security software, that's a matter of personal choice. Also the 3rd party ones often offer other utilities plus 2 way firewall protection along with anti-malware, and you have to remember that Windows Firewall alone, which is what you will have if you simply use Windows Defender, only protects incoming traffic, not outgoing/network stuff, at least not without some extreme tweaking.

I'm trying to figure out what Britt meant by setting something up, all we did was remove A/V's using the special tool, no set up was required here.

This system would have not worked unless both Avast and McAfee was removed using the special tool. Nothing else on gods green earth would have fixed this problem.

No logic at all when they install all that preinstalled bloatware, they are just trying to sell you something you don't need and have no problems sabotaging your new system to sell you a bunch of junk software.

They try to justify this practice by saying it keeps the cost of your system down, but somehow those savings don't really add up when it creates such difficult problems for everyone.

For them to ruin a system by loading your hard drive up with Preinstalled bloatware is criminal, there is nothing good or purposeful about it. And yes, they are well aware of the problem this causes people but they will not stop doing it. Only Windows surface will come without all the bloatware.

And despite the opinions to the contrary, I knew by the second post exactly what the problem was, this is why I was so persistent in removing the rogue A/V software's, because this problem keeps occurring over and over again.

Are you advocating that no security software at all be used? I'm sure a call to Technical Support of either/any brand would have solved the situation, but people seem loathe to even try that solution.

Basic antivirus a la Windows Defender and Windows Firewall is not what most people would call adequate protection, although Microsoft would like one to think it is.

I suppose anything above that is bloatware in your opinion, well you are entitled to the viewpoint I suppose but I don't agree.

Same here, it all depends on what your ISP is offering so you should ask them.

I think you missed the point here, rather completely. I'm not here to argue the merits of installing anti virus software, I'm here to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Try to imagine how many time's I've had to dig through so called networking problems only to find out that there beloved A/V software was the soul cause of the problem in the first place. In my opinion these A/V's are worse then the viruses they are supposed to be protecting us from. I'm not the only one here at the forum with this same exact opinion.

The only thing fixing this system was my extensive experience fixing these types of problems. We don't sit around and "call up" the makers of these rogue problem inducing software's when they were in fact the cause of the problem in the first place.

I'll tell you what I don't agree with, when someone has the wisdom to fix a problem, rather than condemning them for having this knowledge you should be thanking them for fixing the problem in the first place. :geek:

I'm not here to mess around problematic A/V software's, I simply fix the problem by removing the culprit and move on to the next one.

First, this has absolutely nothing to do with IPv6, which by the way, always says no internet access because it's only used internally with Windows at this point. Do not ever disable IPv6 as there are components in Windows that rely on it's functionality.

This problem is usually from either Winsock or the TCP/IP stack requiring a reset which is a very common problem.

Run the following two commands one at time, use an elevated command prompt, hit enter after each command "in bold". Then restart your machine. :)

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

I'm having the same problems too.. i already trried both commands.. i also started in safe mode but still can't connect to the internet..

Are you sure that your ISP provides ipv6 access? They are the ones that adopt it and most ISP's aren't yet using it. Until they do that item will always show Limited or No Access in network Settings.

I have the same problem as Stellar, except that my Internet is turning all off when I am watching videos. I have to disconnect and reconnect to the wifi, then hope it works. I did not try safe mode, but I tried almost everything else. My AV is BitDefender. Early thanks for your help :)

Same issue with ipv6 but not sure of cause!

Hi guys, been following the thread and tried the suggestions and not one worked (the resetting the windsock and TCP/IP worked when restarting laptop was only a temporary fix but then seemed to revert back to not working automatically after about 15 minutes or so).

This leads me to think that the issue could be the ISP not offering its service with ipv6... which was of course noted on here. I have connected via my iphone carriers connection and had no issues whatsoever for ipv6 connectivity too which pretty much answers my own question...

So, knowing the answer, what would you recommend I do? Would you recommend that I disable ipv6 on this basis? Or am I missing something else here??? :)

Advice kindly welcomed!
