i have the iphone 4s that windows explorer recognizes on 2 separate computers which are both running win8 and win7 ultimate.

itunes recognizes the phone in ultimate but NOT in win8.

i have tried different cables and an older iphone and itunes still does not recognize it win8.

i have the latest version of itunes (10.5.1.42) and the latest drivers. there are no pending windows updates.

anyone else have this happening? what is the solution to get itunes to recognize the phone in win8?

Hi, geb724! Welcome to the Eight Forums! :D

Have a look here:

It's been discussed in a few threads - there may or may not be a solution presented as I haven't read through them

All I know is my iPhone isn't recognized in Win8 8102 DP so I just boot back into Win7 to sync.

Once the Win8 Beta hits, I'll explore it more in depth.

yeah i saw that and tried it but ng. guess i'll have to wait for a fix. thanks.

Run task manager
Click "services"
Lower right side click "services"
Find "Apple mobile device"

Now:

1) Exit iTunes
2) Stop service
3) Plug in iPhone, wait for beep
4) Start service
5) Launch iTunes

I have found, after a desire to explore this more in-depth and before the Beta Win8, it works quite well.
No tricks involved. Dunno what y'all are doing differently.

I will admit the first back-up took almost two hours.

Once I linked my Win7 iTunes folder to my Win8 8102 DP iTunes, and activated my Win8 8102 DP machine (same as my Win7 machine but dual boot doesn't recognize it as such), all was well.

Go to
1)Device management
2)Uninstall Apple mobile form USB
3)re connect iPhone

Enjoy...
