Internet Explorer wont work in Metro mode

I want to use Internet Explorer in metro mode, but whenever I set Chrome as my default browser, this causes IE to only open in desktop mode ?
Why can I only have use IE in metro mode if it is the default browser ?

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer must be set as the default program to be able to use the modern Internet Explorer.

Yes it is very unfortunant that you have to make IE as the defaut browser so u can use it in windows 8 mode .
