Internet Explorer 9... Thoughts?

So I've been using the beta of Internet explorer 9 and now I downloaded the Release Candidate. After really using it...I find it's still quite horrible. There I said it. I really want Microsoft to do better, but they just are not delivering. Reading all those stuff about the how it's showing the beauty of the web, I was expecting better. Chrome and firefox render the pages well, whereas internet explorer 9 is just lacking in every aspect. They said people are having to catch up with them but they can't even build a browser to render websites designed for this new era. I'm hoping they fix this at some point but who knows. I have been sending them feedback but they probably just delete it.

true I will continue to try out updates meanwhile I will also continue to send them feedback :p one thing that I didn't like was that they don't have a version for windows xp. To me that's a bad mistake they need to still continue releasing browser updates for windows xp since chrome and firefox work on xp. It just baffles me why they would not support their own operating system. I get they want people to upgrade to windows 7, but I still think since a large marketshare is still using windows xp they need to target that demographic.

The reason they don't support XP is because of some of the browser features. XP is dying and people need to let go of it, and Microsoft knows that. Not to mention that official support is ending soon, or has ended.

Well XP support is ending and obviously will no longer be supported but that doesn't mean people have to let go of it. I personally would not still use XP but they are leaving XP people in the dark and the fact that many don't want to move on just shows how much more they should support it and by support I don't mean like technical. From what I've read the new browser features can be done on XP as firefox also has the same features and firefox works on XP as well. I'm hoping they support more web standards. I will follow and thanks for discussing! :)

If people want to use an outdated OS, then they can use an outdated browser. When they're ready to accept technology and move on, then they can use the new stuff.

I liked the RC. I thought it had a good rendering. But then I have not used FF or Chrome for awhile so I have nothing to compare it to. I thought it had a great look to it.:D

I tried the beta for a bit, liked it. Now giving the RC some good usage. It's a bit slower than the beta was(for me), but I still like it. Hope the Final is just like it.

I came across a Web Blog while reading my morning email news. It seemed to be on topic for this thread.
While testing the release candidate yesterday, I was pleased to discover that the instability that had plagued the first beta was gone. The release candidate didn't crash once over a six-hour period of use, although it did hang for a few seconds several times. Sites loaded quickly, and most importantly the browser not only felt ready for daily use, but felt like it could stand comfortably next to other modern browsers.

I remember when IE 7 was announced and it was said that it would not be coming to Windows 2000, only XP SP2 and up and a lot of people complained about it at the time. The way XP marketshare seems to be heading though, much like the complaints about IE 7 not being on 2000, they will fizzle away and become a non-issue. Fact is Windows 7 is growing and taking share not only from Vista but from XP and not only for home users, but for businesses as well. There are people who will cling to XP endlessly and that's on them just like there are people who still today cling to 2000, or 98, or even in one case I found, 95. The rest of us however will move on.

I'm actually using the RC right now and I love it! Much better performance than the beta and the UI tweaks make it that much more usable. I like the fact they added the option to have tabs on a separate as I (and many others) had complained about. The only thing I miss is the search box from IE 8 but I doubt that's coming back and I'm slowly warming up to the "One Box". Overall great browser though. I'm using it at work right now and it has not crashed on me so far in these past 2 days. The final should be great!

The only thing I don't like is, just like it's predecessors, it doesn't like to handle logins consistently. Plenty of sites it will ask if I want to save the info, yet, on here, the 7 forums, and the Vista forums, there isn't even a prompt. There never was, even the first time I visited the sites with it.

I'm relieved that I'm finding more and more ways to customize IE9 to suit my needs. I hate the trend toward 'minimalism' because I want to have as many functions as I can at my fingertips.

I like the fact that the menu bar was fixed and also the customize function was re-added from IE 8 in order to add and remove buttons from the command bar plus the show text and icons functions - etc was also re added. to fully customize the command bar. I also like the show tabs in a separate row option.
