How to Enable or Disable Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) Auto Update

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable auto update for Internet Explorer 10 (IE10) to install new versions automatically.

OPTION ONE
To Enable or Disable IE10 Auto Update in About IE10
1. While in IE10, click/tap on Help (menu bar or ALT+H), and click/tap on About Internet Explorer. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: This does not apply to IE10 Metro.
2. Do step 3 or 4 below for what you would like to do.
3. To Enable "IE10 Auto Update" for All Users
NOTE: This is the default setting.
A) Check the Install new versions automatically box, and go to step 5 below.
4. To Disable "IE10 Auto Update" for All Users
A) Uncheck the Install new versions automatically box, and go to step 5 below.
5. Click/tap on the Close button. (see screenshot below)
6. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.
OPTION TWO
To Enable or Disable IE10 Auto Update using a REG File Download
1. Do step 2 or 3 below for what you would like to do.
2. To Enable "IE10 Auto Update" for All Users
NOTE: This is the default setting.
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.
Enable_IE10_Auto_Update.reg
3. To Disable "IE10 Auto Update" for All Users
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.
Disable_IE10_Auto_Update.reg
4. Save the .reg file to the desktop.
5. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to Merge it.
6. If prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK.
7. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
