There is no driver that will install from Intel and work with your chipset and Windows 8.

I tried this a while back with my Tablet PC (it has the same chipset). I kept all the driver setups from XP, Vista, and Win7 -- and tried them all. NONE of them worked.

I was eventually told that the XPDM driver support that was present in Win7 (and allowed the Intel drivers to work) was NOT present in Win8; thus, none of the Intel drivers would work anymore with Win8.

i have the driver, u mail me my id is engr.khang@yahoo.co.uk

I need this driver that works with Windows 8 on my GMA 910/915 machine as well. How can I contact you?

Good Luck on that. If you notice, the post has gone unreplied for nearly 2 MONTHS now -- not a good sign.

Also, I recently did some testing in Win8 CP -- and the same driver limitations apply, that is, NONE of the Intel 915 video drivers will install, no matter what you do. You get a simplified version of Aero using the Basic driver that is installed automatically.

If I am supplied a link to the latest driver, and the hardware id lines of the adapter you want to install it to, I could mod the inf so it will install.

If it works or not is another thing entirely.

Should be using Windows 8 32 bit. If not, you'd have to then deal with the driver enforcement and/or self signing.

Thanks Mark - it doesn't look good for the Intel 915 / 910 based machines.

I'm going to keep looking and trying to decode the Vista / XP drivers to try and get them installed.

The reason I was told that the Vista/Win7 approach for installing the Intel 915GM drivers will NOT work in Win8, is that these are actually XPDM drivers, not WDDM drivers. While XPDM driver support was included in both Vista and Win7 (which is why the drivers work there), I was told that XPDM driver support has specifically been excluded from Win8. In fact, everything I've found indicates that Win8 requires WDDM drivers to work.

So, the short version is that XPDM drivers won't work in Win8 -- period.

That said, if you have any success, please let us know. I would really like to get the Intel drivers working in Win8.

I don't know the particular structure of the .inf for this driver or the Intel video driver, but perhaps NTx86.6.2 and NTx64.6.2 can be added to them in the section header.

I did something similar with my ATI IGP 9000.

Still working on the issue

As mentioned, I was told that these drivers are XPDM and that support has been intentionally removed from Win8, where WDDM drivers are required.

Are you saying that if I mess around with editing the .inf file that will work around this limitation?

I'll be interested in the answer to this one as well.

Possibly. Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about where I have it installed. I don't have 8 on this particular machine any longer though:

Thanks ... but that's an old ATI card. The problem I'm having is with an old Intel chipset.

But, if you can pass along the .inf changes you made -- or point me to a thread where I can read about them -- I'm willing to give this a shot.

I have made changes to the driver. This is just a test to see if anything will happen. If it works then huge success, and ill post a new thread for these drivers. If not, well, it is only a test.

INSTALL THIS FIRST. It allows installation of the custom drivers.
