Solved Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000

my laptop monitor does not work. only an external monitor works well.

Resolution issue? Refresh rate issue? I'd check on those.

I've been lurking the thread for a while now, but since nothing was working for me i decided to make an account, so sorry if it's all sudden, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thing is, i read something about the laptop i had in page 12, but none of that worked.
Dell Inspiron N5110
in device manager, it says, Intel HD Graphics Family

just like most people here, the only way to get a display out of this, is to connect the vga adapter to an external monitor. after the boot animation on my laptop lcd, boom, it shuts off, and goes to my connected external monitor. or just stays black if i don't have anything plugged in.

I tried just about every method described in this thread, pretty sure i did it right. The supposed fix i saw a couple pages back was for this same laptop, but with nvidia graphics card, not intel. so i'm kinda stuck. and i tried all 3 versions of your modified drivers for laptop, and yes i ran the certificate thingy of yours before installing the drivers.

Any ideas? i'm thinking of just going back to windows 7, but i really like windows 8, it worked on this old desktop of mine, so i thought it's cool enough to have it on my primary computer which is my laptop, and boom, no display, just great. i would've rather preferred microsoft never released this preview and let them figure out the tech issues with all types of hardware themselves instead of having the users go through this stuff and making it easier for them to fix it by the time the real windows 8 is out. BUT, i love being updated, and i'd like to be using windows 8

any help is greatly appreciated.

So the vast majority of people running Windows 8 beautifully should not be able to do so because you can't get your graphic adapter working well? lol thanks for the laugh.

Besides, it doesn't work like that. Microsoft bears no responsibility whatsoever to ensure your hardware works on any of their operating systems at all. That responsibility is purely that of the hardware manufacturers to figure out.

Dear author of these drivers (appreciate the effort btw), I've got some problems tho with the drivers provided here.
I have HD1000 (celeron G440 integrated) and when I install these drivers provided here on CP I get arctifacts all over the screen.

Any clue about that?

Thanks for the reply. it's still not working when I use device manager to install it. I got this errorView attachment 5594
Are you running a mac? If you could get me the inf file of the mac driver maybe i can mod a custom driver for you.

You can find it by going to the device manager and right clicking your display adapter and choosing "Properties". Then go to "Details" and from the dropbox choose "Inf name". Mine happens to be oem18.inf.

Next go to C:\Windows\Inf and look for the inf name you found in details. Could you upload that inf as an attachment?

If you are currently using the Microsoft basic display driver then I have no clue as to why the driver wont install.
i'm running the Microsoft basic display driver, the inf file is display.inf.View attachment 5685

Thanks very much.
Hi, I got the installation log file and when I checked it, I found that every time it failed because a error code of 0xE000022D. Hope it helps a little bit.

Intel has finally revealed when the full Win8 (beta) driver for HD Graphics (2nd/3rd-gen) will be officially available: early May. It'll be posted on the Intel Download Center.

I wonder if this suggests that the Win8 Release Preview is coming sooner than expected? The most optimistic date I've heard up to now is late May, but if the rumors that IE10 final will ship in June are correct, the Release Preview would have to happen in May.

Sorry for bumping into this discussion. This actually scares me a bit and that's why I am asking this question here. I am planning to buy a desktop with core i3 2105 processor that has an Intel HD 3000 IGP. Now one of the essential requirements is for me to use Windows 8 when it finally releases.
Question: Won't I be able to do a generic windows 8 install and use the system or do I need to go through these elaborate installation/tweaking processes to finally get it running?

I am a non gamer who wants to use the system for office productivity, HD movies, music and some heavy browsing.
You don't need to go through all the tweaking. I've done it for you. Head to the first page and the second post for the download links. Follow the instructions and you're good to go.

Eventually Intel will release official drivers for the final release of windows8. These drivers are here because Intel has not released any beta drivers. These are a kind of work around.

Conclusion: Get it! For now you can use these drivers for windows 8 CP, and once the final release comes out Intel will most likely have their drivers ready for us to use. (Hopefully)

Thank You ... Bought the system. Still to assemble it.

These drivers are different than the ones meant for that CPU. These are sandbridge/ivybridge only.
Try version 8.15.10.2622 which supports the celeron processor according to this page."

I do have SB CPU, and for windows 7 I installed the drivers that can be found on intel site under sandy bridge graphics ( even tho it says hd3000 and hd2000, it worked fine)
your drivers will also load and I get correct resolution but the arctifacts all over the screen is bugging me.

EDIT: I also noticed that it isnt arctifacting all the time, sometimes it just turns the display off and freezes the whole system.

Version 8.15.10.2622 is the last driver which supports the HD 1000 (Why do you have an HD 1000 when you have sandy bridge?). The newest version of the Intel processor driver drops support for any Celeron processor.

If the driver doesn't work, just wait till the release of official drivers from Intel.

I have another problem with consumer preview - installed almost every driver from this thread, driver from dell, updated windows driver, and my laptop (dell n5110, i5, Intel hd 3000) display works only in safe mode. Works also on external monitor, but laptop display is black from the beginning of windows loading.

In screen preferences it is listed as: "Display device on: Composite", but even whet I set duplicate, extend, show desktop only on it screen remains black. I also tried setup it manually with Intel application, custom resolution, but its not working.

My laptop screen is simply not detected by windows.

TEMP SOLUTION: go to Device Manager, select Update driver of display adapter, Browse my computer, Let me pick from a list, Select Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, reboot. My laptop display is working, but in low res only.

My laptop screen is simply not detected by windows,
Install Version 8.15.10.2622 and turn on your computer. Wait about 2 minutes and close the laptop lid. The computer will go to sleep. (make sure to enable sleep) Just reopen the lid and hopefully it will detect your laptop screen.

Not 100% sure if this will work. Others have been saying it works for them.

XDleader555, can you modify new driver from intel "Intel HD Graphics 8.15.10.2712", which comes for Intel HD Graphics 2000/2500/3000/4000, P3000/P4000 Core i3/i5/i7 & mobile versions, Pentium & Celeron, Xeon, please =)

It seems that Intel just published new ones, - Intel HD Graphics 14.51.4 & 15.26.8. The reason is, maybe, because they fix some artifacts in video decoding...
