Solved Intel GMA 500 Drivers for 8?

I'm attempting to run 8 (32 bit) on a Dell Mini 12, which purportedly has GMA 500 integrated graphics. The display is 1280 X 800, but it's running a fuzzy, horizontally-stretched 1024 X 768, and offers no other resolution options, on the Microsoft display driver.

When I download the GMA 500 drivers for Windows 7 32-bit from Intel and try to run Setup.exe, I get an error message saying "this operating system is unsupported." Which I'm sure is technically true, but the solution I see all over the net for Intel GMA 500 (and a host of other graphics) problems in 8 is to use the Windows 7 drivers.

Any advice? Anyone experiencing anything similar?

I have resolved this--this is probably super-obvious to most of you, but if anyone else is using Intel drivers and having trouble: make sure you get an Intel driver from Intel, not a 3rd-party site, and install via the control panel window for Screen Resolution, not via the SETUP.exe file Intel includes. Setup will fail when it checks the OS version.

I also had an issue with my screen blacking out at the end of the installation and not coming back. I waited for the laptop to go to sleep and woke it back up, to no avail; connecting an external display didn't help, either. But after a hard shutdown and reboot, it came up with no issues and the correct resolution is now displayed.

I managed to run SETUP.exe by going to properties and changing the OS compatibility to Windows 7.

Download the driver from here:http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...Product=Intel®+Graphics+Media+Accelerator+500
Extract it, right click setup, under compatibility check "Run this program in compatibility mode", select from the dropdown menu.
