Solved Intel G41 OpenGL on Windows 8.1 x64

Official driver (Microsoft WDDM 1.1) doesn't support OpenGL on Windows 8.1 x64 for Intel G41 Express Chipset. Because of this I cannot run VirtualBox, BlueStacks and some other apps. Please share if you know any solution for this.

By manually installing 'WinVista7_64_15173'. But now the problem is Windows Update, every 2nd-3rd day it replace the driver with Microsoft one, I tried disabling auto update but no effect. So I manually replace it after every update.

Manually? What exactly did you do?
When I tried to install "WinVista7_64_15173" , an error pos up saying 'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software' although I have a Intel G41 Express chipset

Hi, a newer version that works well on Windows 8.1 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18402. Download the .zip file. When downloaded right click on the .zip file and select properties. Unblock the file. THEN UNZIP it and run the Setup.exe as administrator. Also make these changes in Computer/System properties

Restart pc. To prevent Windows Update from installing the newer driver when you installed the driver, check for updates and if the Microsoft graphics driver appears - right click on it and hide it. Hope this works for you!

Just installed driver from 'Werty' posted link and disabled auto update, for now it's working fine. Thanks Werty.

You are welcome! Recommendation: set the 3D settings like that (I had problems in IE with hardware acceleration)

Werty I don't use IE, no issue in any other app so far, only Android x86 in VMware doesn't support this driver as it's saying something like 'OpenGL2 support require', for this I installed VirtualBox and Android VM running fine in it

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 evaluation, and ran into the same problem, which prevented me and my family from running Minecraft on this computer.

this solved my open gl issue but it seems to slow the pc down abit compared to before.. ill do a few reboots just to be sure
