Installing Windows 8 Core with embedded key

May I ask where you got the 8.0 install media you used to install 8.0? If you answered this already I missed it.

Have you checked the SHA1 hash of your download to verify it hasn't been tampered with? With all the issues you have I would suspect your ISO is corrupt or been tampered with.

They persisted before the reinstall.

Well something is going on. I'm beginning to think you may have a hardware issue. How old is this PC?

A tad over a year old. It started about 8 months into it's use.

Less than a year old and bad RAM already? I see you downloaded some drivers, did that help things?

Nothing. Bad RAM was from the factory. Replaced a few weeks after I bought it.

At this point you might want to think about going back to what works, Windows 8.0. Did the drivers you downloaded state they were for 8.1?

Yes I downloaded all drivers I could through hp support assistant.

Well, the simple fix is to use an external mouse and forget the touch pad. Many people do this even if the touch pad works.

I've been doing that but being in a college lecture hall with no place to put the mouse makes it extremely frustrating. Besides the fact I shouldn't have to do that anyway if this thing was designed right in the first place.

Right, had not thought about that type of environment. Definitely need it fixed.

Well it was working flawlessly for about a week or two and now it started acting up again. I booted it up and noticed that the trackpad icon was not in the notification area, then it appeared, but it still acted odd. I'm going to keep an eye on event viewer.
