Have you checked the SHA1 hash of your download to verify it hasn't been tampered with? With all the issues you have I would suspect your ISO is corrupt or been tampered with.

At this point you might want to think about going back to what works, Windows 8.0. Did the drivers you downloaded state they were for 8.1?

Well, the simple fix is to use an external mouse and forget the touch pad. Many people do this even if the touch pad works.

Well it was working flawlessly for about a week or two and now it started acting up again. I booted it up and noticed that the trackpad icon was not in the notification area, then it appeared, but it still acted odd. I'm going to keep an eye on event viewer.
