[Info]Games which support for Windows 8

Hi, guys. I was recently researching on how many games are compatible with Windows 8 Release Preview ( And Professional (( Both x32 and x64 bit )) ). Also, i was extremely bored, so i did this...

Here are the results. ( I will update this topic each day, because i keep on testing games )

JrV8L.jpg

Grand Theft Auto games

GTA London 1969

GTA 2

GTA 3

GTA Vice City

GTA San Andreas ( Bit glitchy )

GTA 4 ( Works OK, glitches sometimes )

Gears of War games

GoW 1 ( Some bug, might not work )

GoW 2 ( Glitchy sometimes )

GoW 3 ( A-lot of graphics required )

The last pack i tested...

Valve!

Team Fortress 2

Black Mesa

(( A Valve member said to me that Valve is fed up of 8, so Steam's now in development for Linux ))

( Half Life 2 Episode 2 crashes each 5 minutes so i didn't mention it, sorry... ))

49vuM.jpg
Valve :(

Every version of Half Life ( Might work on some desktop )

Team Fortress

And all Steam Apps...

NOTE : THESE GAMES ARE TESTED BY VIIB ONLY, AND NO ONE HELPED ME. THESE CAN WORK FOR OTHER MEMBERS, BUT THIS IS JUST TO SHOW WHICH WORKS AND DOES NOT WORK....

F.A.Q

So, how much Giga Bytes did i waste in this?

Hmm... About more than 50 GB

How much money did i waste?

More than 5,000 Rupees ( Indian Currency )

This is for you all, so enjoy! (( Don't even reply about the money... ))

If i made any mistakes, want me to test games, have any bugs, feel free to PM me or reply here.

This saves a-lot of GBs for you guys!

I really hate to do this to someone that actually took time to do this however all of the aforementioned games work on my system without any problems, after I updated my GFX card drivers from the windows 8 Pro drivers.

One thing I did note with some of the larger Steam apps was that you need to verify the integrity of the files if you have done a straight upgrade from a previous OS. (Most of my games had to Re-download because they were somehow corrupted on a completely different HDD?)

Whilst I am writing this I am compiling a video of TF2, which was filmed by fraps on Win8.

If you want to do a serious 'list' you need to update all of your drivers and software and have other people to help you create the list.

Oh and Battlefield 3 Works fine for me, as does League of Legends.

Whilst my video is compiling I'm actually re-downloading Borderlands 2 to play, so ill report back if that works or not for 'Me'

The reason the RP list is still applicable is because the programs also work on the RTM (not much is changed between the versions except the look).

That will get updated after the release the 26th oct. But in the meantime it's the only list we have and it's a good one (unless some compatibility problems were detected between RP and RTM but I doubt that).

@ W. Sniper:
Thanks for noticing.

Happy gaming everyone!

SO far I've been having good luck in the gamed department, The games I can confirm working are

Doom 3 + ROE
Quake 4
The newer Prince of Persia series (sand of time, two thrones, warrior within)
Torchlight 1 and 2
Rayman Origins
Call of Duty 4
90 % of my steam list (haven't played them all yet)

The only games i'm having trouble with are the 'metro' games. Nothing but Jetpack Joyride (must get by the way) and pinball fx2 work and even pinball fx is slower than sludge

This is an old thread, but just to contribute, there has not been a game I could not play or make play on my win 8 except Return to mysterious island which I'm currently working on. Half life, TF2, COD, Skyrim, Fallout3/new vegas, GTA4/liberty city, Slender the arrival just to name a few. The only game that lags a tiny bit is skyrim. So, yeah update drivers and verify cache etc. Research launch and compatibility options and you should be able to play just about anything.

great video.... Certainly helps people when picking and choosing. I see alot of OpenGl based games and dosbox games don't use directx.

If you got the goods to help me with DDF8 I would be much appreciative.

I'm pretty much of the opinion that a high percentage of games running under Windows 7 will also run under Windows 8. Of course the older the game is or skittish it is, than yeah, there could be issues but...

Anyway someone posted STALKER SOC doesn't run under Windows 8.1, but my (retail) copy runs just fine. I've also Googled it to see if there were any issues and most posts indicate what I found, the game runs fine.

Also the list here says none of the Half-Life games play but I just tried both HL2 and EP1 & 2 and they run just fine.

Again, more than likely, if the game ran on Win 7, it should run on Win 8. BTW you can check my system specs, but I'm running Win 8.1, 64-bit.

My two cents.

Quite a few 16 bit games run under windows 8.1 now, if they don't just throw the windows 7 compatibility at them!
