Solved IE 11 on Windows 8.1 does not see VPN Network

Upgraded to 8.1, using Cisco Anyconnect. When I connect to our work network IE 11 does not see it (similar to how all the "metro" apps do not see it as well).

I can use Chrome, Firefox, browse the network via Explorer, etc. IE 11 acts like my network is down.

Has anyone else had this issue? I searched the internet but I don't see anyone having that problem... I've seen the opposite where only IE is working for them but not this problem.

Thanks for any guidance in this issue!

(PS - I need IE for one of our work apps... I have a workaround, to connect to my Windows 7 box at work and use IE on that but I would prefer using it directly from my home machine).

You can usually get this working in IE by going upper right to Tools>Internet Options>Compatibility mode, add the IP of the VPN to the list.

I am sure I am being stupid but...

I don't see a compatibility tab under the tool widget -> internet options... is it a box/button/check on one of hte other tabs?

[edit]

Wait, are you talking about Tools -> Compatibility VIEW Settings?

Why would that affect internet connectivity?

Hi there
try disabling the Enhanced security mode in IE11 ==> uncheck the box in security settings- this if it is set or enabled it can hose up other applications that *should* incorporate their own security stuff.

I had some issues with Silverlight and some media streaming services until I unchecked this box.

The other issue - compatibility settings means the OLD code will be executed -HTML or whatever rather than the newer - CSS ?? -- I don't know - I'm not an application programmer but I do know that some sites won't render properly if you don't set compatibility mode on for those sites --that includes the LOGON screen to SOME remote VPN's if the initial logon screen is presented via a browser.

Cheers
jimbo

Just try it, takes two seconds to find out.

Connectivity doesn't seem to be the problem here, it's more than likely a security or compatibility deal.

@chev, @jimbo

Disabling the security seemed to do the trick, tho' it isn't 100%. I will try adding it to my exceptions list as well.
