IE 10 continues to ask for credentials

I have just deployed a Win 8 x64 Ent. image to 184 computers at my school. As the teachers return for the new year, I have noticed that IE 10 continues to prompt for credentials. This is very annoying. I have deployed a regedit, found herer, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5509-user-account-control-uac-change-settings-windows-8-a.html
I have also tried changing setting in IE 10>settings>Internet options>/Content>Autocomplete>Settings>.

I'm a newbie at asking for help, and never used a Forum, so I apologize up front. My motivation for this is I'm attempting to be the first and only school in the district to run all my clients on Windows 8. My school has been stuck in the dark ages and there is a big push this year for improving technology here. While my problem does not in any way render anything useless, it does make it annoying and hard to keep my staff and teachers motivated towards this direction if they get a bad taste in their mouth for Windows 8.

Any help with this problem would be appreciated

It probably asking for Credentials because the Server in the system needs a Login to allow the satellite systems to access the Net. Who set up the server?

I would look at one of the original workstations and check the Internet Properties from Control Panel, go into connections and see if there was any Proxy connected. Did you update ALL the machines, without leaving one of them in the state that it was before this upgrade?

(I guess what I am asking is - Are the systems asking for credentials to access the NET? If so, you have to make new credentials for them in the server).

There is no Proxy server. I have noticed if I use chrome, I don't have this problem. Our policy restricts the use of chrome though. I did a clean install from the Win 8 x64 Ent. DVD, does the same thing.

So the network is not administrated through a Server? What kind of credentials is it asking for, a User name and Password? Maybe it is asking for the Username and Password for the ISP connection. Once you set that up on each workstation, it will never ask again. DSL requires you enter your User Email and Password into the Network settings. If you are using a Router that is connected to DSL, it could be the Router that is not connected with the DSL credentials. I need mroe info, how is this network set up? Whatever you do will have to be done on the system hooked up right into the Broadband Connection.


Not being able to use a working Browser is a stupid policy, and you should try to remove that policy.

I could be wrong, but I really don't think this has anything to do with the network.
The Win XP boxes with IE 8 don't have this problem.
The Win 7 with IE 10 don't have this problem.
Using chrome, I don't have this problem.
It only manifests itself on both my Win 8 x64 Pro + IE 10 and Win 8 x64 Ent. + IE 10.
We use AD. Previously, IE seemed to use the logon credentials when accessing sharepoint, or some of the other tools that also requires our AD credentials. On the Win 8 machines, you are prompted every time.

On both Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise, IE10? Ok, so each user has a credential they have to initially enter, and IE 10 is not remembering the credentials?

Is this a credential that needs to be filled in via any kind of pop-up?

Try turning off "Active X Filtering" -Also go through your Internet Settings and use these settings for "Autocomplete" in "Content" property Sheet:



Also, if you have any form of cCleaner or cCleaner Pro running, you need to tell it to NOT delete usernames and passwords. Especially in the Pro version, which will run on a schedule, it will wipe all of the passwords each time it runs.

That option is not checked by the default settings? Well, good - I'm glad you found the solution, use it in tandem with the Autocomplete settings.

Right, that's not the default because sending your logon credentials to any site on the internet is usually considered a bad thing. If you're not worried about your user's username/password combinations, then it probably makes sense to turn that on. It's enabled by default for the intranet zone only, because it is assumed that those servers are local to your network, and thus at least a safer option to send such for.
