Icons are missing

Hey there! Well, i have a problem. All my system icons are missing for some reason...

Did sfc/scannow and no results. It just reverted my tweaks, that's it.

Could someone help me? I don't want to reinstall my Windows

You could see if rebuilding the icon cache using an option in the tutorial below may fix it for you if it's just a glitch. The methods still work in Windows 8.1.

Okay, i had to reinstall my Windows. There was nothing else to do. I hate this "bug", this has happend to me before. I'll do some research now...

There is a User Option to "Show Icons".
Right Click on desktop, , click on View, then the bottom option in the list is "Show Desktop Icons".
You can either elect to Show the Icons, or NOT to show the icons, by either Checking or UN-checking the little box.
It's all under the operator's control. NO need for fancy programs, or to re-install Windows.

Probs isn't. Same thing happend to my Windows 8.1 tablet (Fully updated and no tweaks)...

Which settings? I'd like to know... "Show Desktop icons" was always ticked so which settings?

If you dig deep enough I'm sure you'll find them. If not then you either have them turned off, or, you inadvertently eliminated them, OR you had a security issue of some sort that resulted in the removal of your desktop icons. Security issues are not merely virus and malware related. Sometimes bad code can mess things up. Sometimes there are conflicts. Even Microsoft messes up (which, to some extent, is why I don't blame you for your reluctance to do updates). Anyway, it looks as though I called it. Eventually failure to do updates can result in it coming back on you and biting you in the hinder parts. Seems you were well past due for a new install anyway so I'm glad you fixed it. The fact that the same thing happened to you on a separate device points to your Microsoft account. Uh, didn't you mention that you liked to hack software? Enjoy your user experience.

Still running out-dated version of Windows 8.1.
Won't update. Before my icons went missing, i tried to install C++ Runtimes but i cancelled the installation. So, maybe because of that my icons went missing?
