I love embedded Oem keys

Yeah, my two ASUS desktops don't have an embedded key so I get prompted to enter one. With the MSDN install media the key you enter determines what version is installed. I can enter a regular Windows 8 key or an 8 Pro key. Media Center keys are rejected as you have to install 8 pro first. It all works very well and I would think it makes it harder to pirate Windows 8.

What If the Acers comes with 32bit w8 and the Dell CD is 64bit what then? I suppose you' ll need to download a 64bit iso but yeah have you checked it?

It doesn't matter, the Product code is good for 32 bit or 64 bit, it's your choice. All that's locked in is the version core or Pro. If you specifically want the 32 bit edition then you use 32 bit install media. If you want 64 bit you use 64 bit media.

Also MS specs for new OEM PC's are

1) UEFI/BIOS firmware ENABLED.

2) Secure Boot ENABLED.

Which x32 does not support.

That's good to know Theog. I have never done a 32 bit Windows 8 install, UEFI or not. I know the TechNet keys are good for 32 bit or 64 bit, just like they are for Windows 7. I wonder if Windows 8 will still use the embedded key with secure boot and UEFI turned off? It wouldn't be something I would do unless I had a really good reason. Just about everything made these days has 4 gigs of RAM or more.

Yes, it will still pickup the embedded key.

The bit version does not matter. You could change from 32 to 64 bit and be just fine.

They are different OSs. As for 32Bit vs 64Bit link me articles that says one license cover both because i need to know myself.

No, the Acer's were Windows 8 standard 64 bit. The Dell was Windows 8 pro 64 bit. I had to buy the $99 pro pack upgrade for the Acer's to get them to Windows 8 pro 64 bit.

You were still legal even without buying the Pro Packs for the Acers anyway. Windows 8 (core) was installed on those by default which is what the Acers originally shipped with and were licensed for. The Pro Packs were used to upgrade them to 8 Pro for some extra features you wanted right?

Yes correct. These machines needed to be able to join our Active Directory domain. Hence the reason I had to buy the Pro Pack upgrades.
