I know it's too late but... I want to thank everyone for their help. I managed to get my laptop up and running again, all by myself and for free *smug face* (by that I mean, with your help and no salesman)

I googled what was suggested, (learnt what an iso file was,) downloaded it, then used Novicorps WinToFlash download to get the Windows 8 files onto my usb in a bootable format. Then I panicked because it looked all fake but it was okay in the end because I Windows Update did its thing and my legal, paid for, original product key was activated again and all is well!
Relief doesn't even cover it! It's disgraceful, in my opinion, that Samsung or Microsoft wouldn't make the installation files available to me, a paying customer.

Thanks again guys :)

Yah. After all, it's the KEY you pay for, not the disk. There are bunches of places you can find an UNMODIFIED Windows 8 Iso image on the net, just have to know where to look.

For my benefit, may I ask if he could have downloaded the iso file to either pen drive or disc and used the product key on the pc to install Win 8 as I think he was trying to do?
