Hi, I am facing a crackling audio issue since installation of Win 8 CP. I have a Creative 5.1 VX Card and have updated also latest Win 7 driver as available from Creative 's Website. I also disabled on-board audio from BIOS. but still there is no luck with crackling of audio. Creative SoundBlaster control works but any audio that I play runs with some lag. I tried different players including VLC ..Please help Guys.

Try to see if you can find a Win 8 driver. :)

Try installing the driver in compatibility mode. Right click the driver, you will see it there. Run the test modes, Windows 7 mode should work best.

I have the same issue with my Creative Audigy 4. The Windows 7 drivers from Creative work, but they are a bit crackly occasionally. They are better than the default Windows drivers for my card, but still some crackly audio. I am skeptical that installing in compatibility mode will change this, and I would bet we have to wait for new drivers, if they even make them.

I did tried re-installing the driver in compatibility mood but to no avail. Can it because of some process issue ( any background process/service interfering)?

If you guys are interested in doing yourselves a favor, Google for Daniel K. drivers and install the latest version that he has to offer. Use the Device Manager if necessary. He has a long history of fixing and improving Creative drivers. When 7 first hit beta, his drivers were the go to and worked very well, as opposed to Creative's own drivers.

Hello

If newer drivers still don't fix the distorted sound, then I recommend a update (and replacement with newer driver) for your IDE/SATA controllers. It worked once for my crackled sound on Acer motherboard.

A manual update with official zip's from Intel's site is recommended. Search in your device managment for something similar:

Drivers are usually included in the Intel Chipset package. Just make sure you download the one suited for your motherboard.

After this, a reboot is necessary.

Good luck
