hp 2000 notebook Hard Drive DST short failure, Reinstall?

So i got this hp 2000 notebook pre installed win 8 from a friend. I did some HP tests and shows HD short DST Failure.

I was able to refresh the pc and it does run per sa but constant always getting dst failures. So i assume its dying. I bought a new hard drive for the unit. Now if i put it in, will windows setup pull the product key from the bios? I put windows 8 on a usb key. Can anyone guide me through the process?

Hi, if the PC came originally with Windows 8 preinstalled the product key is embedded in the BIOS so it would be detected automatically. Here is a great tutorial how to install Windows 8 http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2299-clean-install-windows-8-a.html.

So when i install the OS, i wont have to type any product key, it will just pick it out?

If the PC was originally loaded with Windows 8 - YES
