PS: ONCE i set up the password so Windows won't load, how do i ''cancel' the password requirement once i'm in new home ? - i prefer under normal circumstances 'not' to use a password. No one else uses my PC - it's in my home

Open RUN.
Type in netplwiz
Click ok or press enter.

Change things here-

-Hi - using Windows 8 - can't find ''RUN'' (per your px below) ..but did find ''PC SETTINGS'/ USERS/ then saw ''create a password-area choice showing a dot to check inorder to create one marked ''recommended''...i'm assuming that will then not allow Windows or Desktop to load w/o entering the ''password' .. even if computer is booted-up. And to reverse (no longer requiring password) all i'd have to do is return to same area and 'uncheck' to eliminate the need to enter a password to use the computer ??? thanks again !

To get the Run dialog box hold down the Windows key while pressing the R key.

Also-- Slide cursor down left side of screen to the bottom to get the Windows start button to appear & right click it & click Run -



or press Windows Key + X & click Run in the menu.
