[Solved] How to make a custom "reset" folder?

I know that by using recimg, you can make a custom refresh image. And I hear that you cannot use it to reset Windows to factory state. is that so?

if so, how do I do that?

also, is it possible to store the recovery image in a hidden partition. hidden in the sense, the drive letter is not automatically assigned when you refresh/reset Windows, nor can you do it from Disk Management. only from diskpart. however, if i can still use reset while keeping the recovery image in a hidden folder in C: drive, that is still fine i guess.

the thing is, the recovery partition of my Dell Latitude 10 tablet is destroyed (it's Dell's fault though) and even though i can easily recover Windows as I have an iso image and can use the USB to reinstall windows like we normally do on our desktops, i want to sell the tablet and i want to make it recoverable via the recovery features in Windows 8. without the ability to recover, the value of the tablet will be pretty low. if all else fails, i will have to buy a cheap USB flash drive, make it a recovery drive and give it with the tablet. sucks!

it is fine if i have to update to Windows 8.1, if it makes it possible in Windows 8.1 even though it was not in Windows 8.

Maybe contact the computer maker & see if you can get recovery disks.
Pass the cost on when you sell it.

That is out of the question. I just cannot give them disks. This is a tablet.

i updated to windows 8.1
it broke stock recovery functionality - from Dell's backup and recovery software as well as from windows pc settings
their backup and recovery software had to be updated to do recovery thereafter
i also made a recovery USB drive at this point just in case
i did that and i could recover - to windows 8 though
dell's software had done something to the recovery image and now i cannot use recovery in windows 8 anymore
the date of image file was the date i updated their software. they tampered it (i'm sure it was to make it compatible with windows 8.1)
now even when i updated to windows 8.1 and used their latest software, i cannot use recovery. it crashes just as soon as i start recovery
i tried the USB drive and it gave an unknown error mid way.
basically, now i don't have a working OS on the tablet

but i could install windows using a USB boot drive i made. since i have access to MSDN, i could get the version that had on the tablet. even though it is from MSDN, the oem key worked.

now i need to "fix" recovery. i don't want Dell's software to do that for me. i want to do it using windows' own recovery features.

Why not just use Macrium Reflect? A tablet can't have the much data to back up you could probably Use a 32 GB USB thumb drive as a bootable recovery media with your restore Image on the same drive?

voila! found a solution and it worked PERFECTLY!!!
Windows 7/8 - OEM Recovery Partition Creator

i made a recovery image after installing the drivers for the touch screen and wifi,
which are not installed for this tablet by default.

both inbuilt reset and refresh work great, i did each a few times to confirm.
i wonder if they partition format is a bit different to what was originally there. i don't care though.
it is better this way (not needing unnecessary bloat).

only issues are
1. i had to include the OEM key (which i managed to extract from ShowKey.vbs) in the autounattend.xml (no big deal really)
2. the recovery partition is 11GB in size. i'm asking if i can resize it after setting it up. i'm sure the image is only about 4GB actually.
