How to add shortcut solitaire icon to Windows 8 desktop

I have installed the Windows 8 consumer review OS to a separate SSD installed on my high-end machine. I would like to put a shortcut icon on the Windows 8 desktop for solitaire. Has anyone done this?

Thanks Dan but I have tried what worked in Win 7 and it doesn't work in Win 8.

If you rightclick on "Solitaire", do you get the option "Pin to taskbar"? That'll pin it to the taskbar (kinda obvious...)
If you want it to the desktop; try dragging the "Solitaire" icon from the folder to the desktop (Works in W7).

Hey Dan,

Thanks for your help and interest. I have a Metro tile on start that says " solitaire " and when I click that I get the solitaire game and when I right click I get nothing but a sign in the upper right that says sign in to X-box.

Yes, you CAN create a shortcut on your desktop that goes directly to the Metro Solitaire.
Right-click the desktop, select "New > Shortcut" and paste this into the "Location" pane:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "" "xboxliveapp-1297287741:" && exit3

The shortcut will appear as a "Command Prompt" icon, but you can then change its icon if you like. And you can pin it to the Taskbar too.

Presumably there must be addresses like that for all the Metro apps. But now I can't remember where I found that address!

Adding this shortcut produced the same results as going through the start screen: The first time I open solitaire, it wants me to log in, it gives me an nudge if I try to escape, and an XBox page opens in my browser. I just want to get to the solitaire homepage without all the extra clicks and windows.
