Hello Narayan,

You can reinstall Windows 8 all you like so long as it's only activated on one computer at the same time. :)

Brink is correct, however it will only allow you to *automatically* activate a certain number of times within a certain time period (I don't know if this is actually defined anywhere). After that, you have to call Microsoft's activation hotline to activate. That doesn't limit how many times you can activate, as that is unlimited, so long as it's not in use on multiple computer simultaneously.

I can't yet speak for win8, but for win7, I have been messing with an SSD on my netbook and had to swap it and the original HDD in and out many times. Each time I put the SSD/HDD back in it automatically activated win7 and required a reboot. I have had the netbook since 2007 so not sure about limited time either. At a guess, I have reactivated win7 maybe 15 to 20 times and still no need to call or go to the activation site.

Hopefully win8 will be the same. I am really happy as the crappy SSD failed so many times, it was almost a daily thing to swap back the hard drive and reinstate the win7.

I'm pretty sure that it would have recognized that the majority of your hardware was the same, and thus not need to go to manual activation. It's only if you try and activate on different hardware a number of different times within a certain time period that it's a problem.

Better to go with Norton's 360, they own MacAfee so it won't be as good as their parent product. Bit Defender is good as well except for that ugly interface.

Hi there
activation on same machine is fine

I'm surprised you are having bad experience with an SSD -- I've now installed my 4th one (not all on the same machine of course)and really wish I'd used them earlier -- almost the best thing you can add to a computer to SIGNIFICANTLY improve performance. I've never had the slightest problem with SSD's.

(Mind you I haven't had many problems with spinners apart from some really bad performance on slow 5400 RPM IDE clunkers).

Cheers
jimbo

However, SSD's problem is it's reliability.
SSD's can only survive for only a far limited number of writes than HDD's.
That may not be a problem at US, but with the economy of ID it was a big problem.

You will need to replace it frequently than that of HDD's.

Hello, I have When I have installed Windows 8 I have used The Product key Which was inside the pack.

So I want to Ask that If in future My Computer Goes wrong or For any reason I need to reinstall Windows 8 Then Can
I use the product key That was inside my box?

If Yes Is there any limitation times Of using it Or Can I use the product key as much times I want??

Thanks If Anybody Can Help :)

If your computer goes wrong, lets say SSD and you reinstall with the same key onto a new SSD it won't automatically activate when you go online, not even once, you have to ring Microsoft to activate.

Yes, if only a limited number of times, until you reach some number it won't activate with online method.

Well yes, now you can :) Cause i'm sick off hdds, few bigger laptop shocks and you can throw away your hdd like socks ... It's not like you need that much writes for hdds, cause hdds are just like cheap food's industry... Anyway, as i said, good ssds are much better in every aspect, so there is no need to buy hdds. Wait, price is to high, you say ? :D Nah, i see people throwing money away for useless things even in poor countries, so a little bit higher price is nothing compared to what you will get :)
