I'm trying to remove the Homegroup from Windows Explorer. I was following the tutorial that I used for Windows 7 but it doesn't work. Any change I try to make to the registry is denied.

So my basic questions is, how do you make changes to the registry in Windows 8? Not being able to definitely makes it more secure but also impossible to customize.

Hmm.. You shouldn't have any problem editing the registry if you're an administrator. It should pop up the approval dialog to raise your access and you would have full rights.

You might find quite a few difficulties getting it to work the way you want.

One of the drawbacks of win8.

Some people like to sow resentment about Windows 8.

He's not speaking about anything in particular. He's just being negative.

Hey Ztruker, finally I found How to make change to the protected registry in Windows 8 :)
When you right click to the Permission, click to the Advanced. On the top of window you can see Owner (above 3 tabs) the you click to Change. In box Enter the object name to select, you type this to Administrations and then click Check name. Now you can click Ok, Ok, and Ok to finish. That's all.
