I can't figure out how to make a mirror image in win8. I remember in win7 I could just type "Recovery" and select "Create mirror image" but that doesn't work in win8.

I've had the Windows imaging software fail ONCE since Vista RC1, and that was my fault, not a problem with the program.

I had accidentally restored this machine with an image of my other laptop (both W7, but one was Ult 32-bit, the other
was Home Prem. 64-bit), which naturally sent everything pear-shaped.

However, a quick n' dirty re-install of W7 HP 64-bit then allowed me to restore from the correct image with no problem.

I've certainly never come across any real 'horror-stories' relating to it.

Wenda.

Wenda, I have seen quite a few poor souls that could not recover with a Windows image. For that reason I wrote this tutorial - and I did not do that just for the fun of it, but because it was urgently needed. And a few people (that I know of) were able to bail themselves out with it.
