I installed from the DVD, but was not prompted for a product key.

Now, I get a watermark on the desktop and when I enter the settings screen, it tells me its not activated and will expire tomorrow! I copied down the product keys -- but can't find a way to change them. When I click the Activate "button" in the top-left of the Control Panel screen, nothing happens.

Can't figure out how to get the old "Computer" screen back which used to have a link for changing the product key.

Update: I saw an MS KB article that said to run Windows Update. I did that and it found 15 updates. Am downloading and installing them now.

Update: OMG -- I just NOW noticed this says Developer Preview! I'm going to blow this away and reinstall from scratch.

Hi,

Open an elevated command prompt.

Type this then press enter: slmgr /ipk DNJXJ-7XBW8-2378T-X22TX-BKG7J

then type this and press enter: slmgr /ato

If it doesn't work right, just remove the -.

If you still have troubles, do those 2 again but before, enter this command:

slmgr /upk

Go to your Desktop, mouse over the bottom left corner and when the Start Icon appears right click and select System.

Ok, I get the hand-to-forehead award of the day! I just checked, and in my "eagerness" to install Win8, I grabbed the WRONG DVD and installed the Developer Preview, instead. Am in the process of restoring the Win7 image to its pre-win8-install state, and will try -- again!
