This time around I setup a dual boot of Windows 7x64 and 8x64 RP on my main PC. It has dual monitors and I want to see how well the RP supports them. I like having the taskbar on both and being able to have the icons for apps open on that monitor. Metro's dual monitor support so far has been a let down. :(

I had so much trouble with this. I eventually got the dual boot I wanted using some fancy command line work. The problem was that I didn't have enough free space ( I have 750gb hd) to put Windows 8 on a separate drive letter. I was told I needed NTFS and there was no way in which to create a separate drive letter without a complete re format. Some dutch fella posted an article how to get around it. Now I can choose between Windows 8 and Windows 7 each time I boot :D

Backed-up my Win 7 64-bit setup as an image.

Then simply laid the 64-bit RC over the top as an upgrade.

No issues, no problems.

Everything works just fine.

And I can go back to Win 7 whenever I want to.

Leaves me wondering what I did wrong....:)

Grabbed an extra computer at work, Dell GX755, Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM. Installed Win8RP 64bit and it's running just fine and dandy. Using it every day at work to get used to it and figure out what will work and what will not.

I set mine up as sort of a dual boot using 2 hard drives. One has Win 7 Pro on it and the other Win 8 RC ... I have installed all my programs in it such as Microsoft Office, Nero suite, AVG antivirus, Malware Bytes, Open office and more....
The Windows 8 RC is the 64 Bit edition. It loaded as full install without a glitch of any type.... Once loaded it found all but my video card drivers on it's own... Had a small problem with my HP Officejet 6310 all-in-one printer, which is a network printer, but found the driver in the " Windows updates " for the printers and then it loaded up just fine too... Now to find a video driver..... Ha... Other that these little things, it seems to work just great... Will let you know if & when I find the video driver and how it goes....

Initially tried the DP version on an 8-year old laptop, installed without problems much to my surprise and, considering the hardware it was installed on, ran extremely well. Followed up with the CP and RP versions, plus Classic Shell to bypass the Metro interface. These also ran well so went for it and installed it alongside W7 on my desktop. Both are on an SSD and if I thought W7 booted fast, W8 is like lightning ! Assuming MS don't prevent users from bypassing the Metro interface in the final release version ( but then there's always somebody who can find a way round it ) then I'll probably fork out the 40 dollars, or euros equivalent, for the upgrade.

Dual boot i think is the best option for now., if it will take time before a working activator or whatever comes up, then i can still use win7. hopefully someone especially daz makes up his mind to push the early activations, i heard he is not so interested with win8.

I gotta admit, the install is REALLY fast! Clean partition, primary system with the 64-bit RTM release. I have deleted it all 4 times and put it back on in between Linux Mint and Win 7, it's a merry-go-round for me, just can't decide! :D

Wow! Been up and down this forum for a bit and never noticed this thread. Great one! Interesting poll.

I'm dual booting with Enterprise Evaluation. Prior was RP. So far, so good. :) I think it's a great OS.

Noticed almost half of the members dual boot. Interesting to watch.
