I installed it on to a separate Hdd on my primary machine dual booting it with Win 7. After about an hour or so of playing, I formatted my whole machine and did a clean install on my main Hdd making it my primary O/S
Will also be updating my Laptop soon clean install.

I can honestly say I have run in to no problems so far it is very backwards compatible, all my hardware works perfectly and I genuinely love Windows 8.

I have a 4 or 5 year old HP lappy. It's still a capable enough machine. So, I installed Win8 Pro on it. It works fine. I won't be using Win8 though for serious matters. I just wanted to see what it has to offer. The new stuff is a waste of my time.

Hello all. Set it up on a dual boot will XP Pro, W7 Pro, and now W8 Pro. No probs at
all, though I'm still trying to figure out how to make a User image. Maybe one of
the other forums can enlighten me.

Thank you for the hello. I just saw the Tutorials section and it was VERY helpful
in setting up auto log in, so back I go to explore more articles at that area.

Hope ALL have a great Thanksgiving !

I initially installed Win8 on my primary Win7 desktop PC in a dual-boot config. I had some issues, replaced the primary hard drive with an SSD and took the opportunity to do a clean install of Win8 on the SSD and no more dual-boot. So far, so good!

Welcome to EightForums, CaliXRocker. It's good to have you aboard. :)

You must approve of 8 a lot to remove the others. It's an excellent OS IMO.

It's an excellent OS IMO.

That it is. In my case, I've been using Windows 8 solely since Developer Preview.

Good for you, LW! I'm still dual booting with 7 for reasons of my Office 2000 Pro won't load onto 8. I need to upgrade that and rightfully so. I'm a starving builder in this economy, so money has been tight. Christmas presents for 15 I needed to buy recently. I don't want to touch my retirement account. I do have a big window project starting Wednesday which I'll make a good buck at.

I'll be getting my copy of 8 soon. I plan to get Office 2013, slide a video card and a HDD in this machine, and get a touch monitor so to dual monitor with the one I have. That's my plan anyway. :)

Went to Staples & got Windows 8 Pro pack which is simply an upgrade install since Windows 8 Pro is not offered yet on CD or DVD.
It had a plastic card with a scratch off number on the back & instructions on what to do.

My Windows 8 oem apparently was not Activated.
I called Microsoft & a tech did a RPC & after a couple hours everything was installed & working like a charm.
The teck guy fixed a few extra things while he was at it.
All this for no charge !!

I'm no fan of Microsoft.
They annoy the hell out of me at times with the stupid things they do.
But this time, the tech guy went above the call of duty to help me.
If Microsoft had more like him they would be a better company.
;)

Have Windows-8-Pro-WMC-x64 actually running on two machines as a main-os und another one (my wife's one) will be converted soon. The Upgrade-Path (keep all your appz and settings) didn't work with all of my machines, so I will have to do another clean install, after backing up my wife's stuff.

I also bought Start8, which was cheep and does an excellent job.
