I was wondering if there was such a program yet. I'd like to download & test; just asking as I see there's various levels of Win 8 now.
Thanks

No such team or downloads that you can just get into that I know of. Will be awhile until people can get their hands on any real usable Win 8 builds, beta or otherwise. Only ones that have any pre builds as of now are trusted partners, and it's not just something you can slip into. Unless some level of build leaks into public, but as far as I know, that hasn't happened yet.

You are correct, and nothing has leaked... yet ;)

Hi,

Just a quick question on this, since I don't really know how it works:

When Windows 8 eventually enters an official Beta, how does Microsoft decide who gets to test this Beta? Is it really only IT developers that get to test it, or does the Beta also make it into the public domain to be tested by Joe Public?

Regards,
Golden

It can be luck of the draw, but you can also influence how much luck!
Paricipate very actively in forums such as these - not rubbish, genuine inpute as help or original critique. Write blogs. Be seen around the web.
If you have any kind of IT business, however small, you can become a Microsoft partner and contribute over on MSN and connect. Anything you can think of.
In the late days of XP, I was doing all this under another "pseudo". When the hint of "Vista" came along, I hurled email requests at all departments of Microsoft to be a Beta tester, with my background.
I think, when they get to the final selection stages, all the private "possibles" are put into a hat and a draw of some kind is conducted - but that is a wild surmise on my part.
Anyway, I was drawn and subsequently became a Beta tester for Vista and, thereafter, 7.

Great fun. Free technet subscription. You will need a lot of time (I,m retired!) so be careful.
Go for it.

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.

For Windows 7 they had both. The public Beta is available to anyone who wants to test it. Win 7 had a app. for sending feedback. MS had what was called official beta testers that was by invite only. And I do believe that they will do the same with 8 :ninja:

I would totally love to join but with school I don't think I'd have enough time. If it was a job I wouldn't mind but that would also mean I would be bluntly straightforward. While testing the beta of Internet explorer I think I sent them like 10 or more feedbacks of what they were lacking and they kept sending me replies on that they would implement it or that it was already there neither of which were ever true.

I think it would be quite interesting, having never tested an OS before it would be a new and exciting experience, unfortunately, it seems like a lot of time is required? right now it is the one thing i don't have. Still by the time a beta is released things may have changed.

I was a Windows 7 Beta tester and I can only say - you don't need extra time, just use test system,
and when You notice a bug ,report it!

Or, if you have any recommendations for changes to some component, you propose it!
It doesn't require too much time ,it is only your will!
