We have a new Windows 8 pc and have a password set on it to stop our children from going on it but we have a feeling 1 of them has and also he has worked out the password.

So is there a way to check in settings what time the pc was turned on and off?

i have looked in settings but can not see anything that would tell us.

Right-click on the Taskbar, and click Task Manager and select Performance tab once in it and choose CPU. But that just tells how long it has been turned on.

Maybe someone can help you with event viewer or help you setup event viewer to store user logon/logoff times.
I'm only a professional rookie.

Look in the Event Viewer > System Log and filter current log > Event Sources on Kernel-Boot. All your boot times will be listed right there.

To get to Event Viewer, right click on the Start button and click Event Viewer.

Let me know if you need more info. HTH.

Ummm, surely teaching the children the difference between right and wrong is a bigger step forward than simply trying to sneak around behind their backs. They are are already following your approach which is clearly the wrong thing to encourage.

Learning respect for the wishes of the owner of an item will stand them in good stead later in life. Fix the problem, not the symptoms. YOU are the Parent that shapes them and prepares them for living within our society. Unless of course, you have a career planned for them in the NSA. :)
