Does Windows 8 have a hibernate file? Is it the same as sleep? Do you have to clean-up the sleep file eventually?

Sleep is different in that the computer "stops" the CPU but keeps a holding voltage on RAM so that nothing has to be reloaded when you reopen the computer. This means sleep uses some battery power and can't be used for the long term (more than a week?). As far as I know sleep does not use a file like hibernate.
