Hello,

New member here! Came from the sevenforums but have been inactive for quite sometime. Am just planning to move on to Win 8.1 from Win 7 Ultimate. I have posted a thread there re: Quad-Boot Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 8.1 question - Windows 7 Help Forums

Have not taken the plunge yet as we had a death in the family and due to that is a slow roll for me. Pardon for that but I really do wanna interact more to learn from you gurus. I see the prominent guys at sevenforums are here like A Guy Brink kado897 Telefragger etc. Well here's to a more learning experience here!

:)

Hi there, welcome. Why don't you go straight to Win 10 ? You can do it for free. It's not that different than 8.1 and interface may be more suited for people used to W7.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. Well the truth is that when the office has moved to Windows 8.1 there were some issues with the programs and applications that we often use. The IT had a hard time fixing stuff and without the help of the software developers of the programs the issues would have not been addressed right. In one of my partitions I have the very same office programs that we use like JMP 7 and JMP 5 both statistical programs that had issues and took about 4 months to fix and still have minor issues existing. AutoCAD 2013 Mechanical has also existing issues alongside Autodesk Simulation Mechanical. I used them at home whenever I take work home (often or always). I am using the same license from the office (since the desktop came from them) but support will not be the same as that at the office. I will have to contend with our IT and myself in fixing the issues.

As much I want to upgrade to Win 10, I'd like to try first with Win 8.1 so I can iron out kinks first prior to upgrading to Windows 10. Besides it will be a slow roll for me because of work. If I/we can make it work then I'll be confident enough to upgrade to Windows 10. Jitters and more jitters here :)
