Help with HDMI audio on Toshiba Satellite L75-B7240

For some reason, my laptop can only run two channel audio from HDMI. What should I do to get the sound to run in 5.1/7.1? I'm using a Harman Kardon AVR247 reciever and it isnt the problem seeing as how it was hardly ever used when I got it.

Many systems only offer 2 channel. The Toshiba site does not detail the HDMI capability. Use of an external sound "card" (e.g. USB connected) with that capability is probably your best option if you must have 5.1 or 7.1.

Many surround sound amplifiers have built in capability to emulate surround sound from a two channel stereo signal.
