I don't mean to be dismissive by saying you need to consult your hardware manual but in this case it matters. I have a G50 as well, my hardware manual lets me know that I can install 16GB of RAM total - up to 8GB in each slot but limited to DDR3L 1333... or I can use 1 8GB DIMM but I can run DDR3L1600. I can only install DDR3L 1.35 volt DIMMs. Make sure ahead of time, you might be limited in each DIMM slot as well... meaning you can't get your 16GB max in a single DIMM.
So, it pays to consult your HMM, you can download it from Lenovo. You might also use the Crucial or Kingston sites to see what they show as compatible RAM for your specific model. Don't mix & match speeds or voltages assuming you can install either 1.35v or1.5v DIMMS!!!
If it was me, I would go with 2 8GB DIMMs @ 1333 versus 1 8GB DIMM @ 1600... just my $0.02 cents
