So windows 8 was trying to install an update like it does every couple days but kept failing and undoing changes, this process had become very annoying due to this being a new laptop, anyway yesterday the update failed but the computer stopped working so i had to switch it off. i turned it back on and it went to 35% download done and then just skipped it.
once i logged on the computer was running like a slug, could barely open anything on the computer.
i ran it in safe mode and spent most of the day trying to figure it out but im not great with computers so i got to the point of making (sfc.details) folder and finding the errors.
im not really sure where to go from here and would really appreciate some help.

thanks in advance.

Have you tried running-

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

in admin cmd prompt ?

Then running sfc /scannow ?

i ran the dism and it replied (deployment images servicing and managment tool version :6.3.9600.17031
not really sure what this means but it did not fix anything

hmm thats odd because im not getting any type or % tracker of sorts

"edit" its actually doing it now and stuck on 20% as you said :dinesh:
will update once its finished.
again thanks for the help

Give it time.
It should look similar to this when done-

sfc_dism_sfc.jpg

ok so after the dism it came up with this

error: 0x800f0906
the source file could not be downloaded.
use the source option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature.

ok so yeah that update has been installed but when i tried to uninstall it it came up with this msg

the windows installer service could not be accessed. this can occur if the windows installer is not correctyl installed

i uninstalled a voice com though and it worked fine.

Maybe start the service & try uninstalling again-
