Hardware Rate?

Hey, I just have a question on how this laptop rates among you guys.

HP-Envy M6, 15.6

i5 3rd Gen (with hd 4000)
8GB DDR3
750GB HDD

For $400, is this worth it? Or is there something better I could get with $400. (I'm not too worried about money, just want to know if the specs are worth the cash)

I'm rather proud to claim this as my own, it seems futuristic.

I'm an above the average user, I'll probably get some gaming into it (mw3, black ops)
I plan to work with Vegas, Premiere, and a few other programs.

The GPU quality isn't exactly fabulous, but CPU is pretty impressive.

For me it seems to be a great pick, but that's mostly because my current laptop is low spec compared to this.

So I guess what I'm asking is for current times is this laptop a config? As of right now and the next year or so, will these be above average, or will it be considered low end/ economy level?

I'd consider that mid-range, but a good deal for the price. However, I wouldn't plan on gaming with it, or working with those video editing apps. The HDD performance is going to hold those types of apps back, and the GPU, or lack of dedicated one, will hurt gaming performance.

Certainly seems quite reasonable for a $400 machine. You will be able to game a bit, but don't expect outstanding performance out of the onboard HD4000 graphics.

So it's safe to say that for $400 this is a great buy?

I looked up most of the reviews online, but they're not really current and up to date. That's why I posted here.
It seemed like a good configuration, but I might just stick with my desktop...

Swapping an SSD for the HDD should do the trick right?

That would certainly speed up your app performance, yes. My wife has an Inspiron 15R that she uses for her digital photo work. I upgraded her internal to an SSD, and stuck her 500 GB drive in an external enclosure (USB/eSATA) so she had access to old projects and files, without filling up her SSD.

Thanks, I've been looking around at SSD's and it's insane how much cheaper they are now!:what:
