hard drive shows up as removable disk windows 8

my ssd broke so i went got a new one today i do a fresh install of win 8 but its showing up as removable disk

my pc specs-sabertooth fx990 r2.0 mb

win 8

Hi Manny729,

What are the drive settings in your BIOS. I suspect that its about your storage controller drivers.

not sure but my os drive boots but not listed on any sata ports i look in bios and see this sata 1 is my 3tb and sata 5 is my dvd burner and the rest are disabled i have asus mb bios my motherboard is a sabertooth fx990 r2.0

You might need to update your AMD 990FX/SB950 chipset drivers.

i have no clue which one it is i see they have it for win 8 but not 8.1

You can still use the Win 8 drivers for Windows 8.1 I think.

When SATA is set to AHCI, some SSDs do not show in BIOS properly (on the device list boot screen) but only in BOOT order or Prmary BOOT menu. SSD should be connected to first SATA port that is set to AHCI mode.
