It took easily 24 hours to get mine but you can always reapply. You'll only get 1 key per email address.

Not quite true. It worked on my Technet Plus W8 Pro but it didn't activate Media Center automatically. I had to add that feature in 'Add features'. I had previously bought the Media Center pack then realised I didn't have to so Microsoft then gave me refund as long as I signed an ELOD (destroyed the key in other words). So my W8 was already changed to "Windows 8 Pro with Media Center", albeit with a key that was about to be marked invalid....until I got this new one.

I should add for anyone in that situation, to change the product key in Windows 8 isn't that straightforward as in other systems. See: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8855-product-key-number-change-windows-8-a.html?ltr=P

Forever is a long time. The free Media Center key will expire on Jan 31 if not activated by then but once activated it is good forever.

I've never held an OS until its EOL before. (Except XP, since everything supports it ;)) 8 is stable and cheap enough for me to hold on to.

Sometimes I get on my XP machine and wish I had the money to upgrade the HDD to an SSD and get the minimum requirements for 8, but that's money for you. :)
