Have tried to upgrade Garmin Express on Win 8.1, 64-bit desktop, Win 10, 64-bit laptop, Win 7, 32-bit laptop. File downloaded directly from Garmin. Success on both laptops, but continual fail on 8.1 desktop, even when running as administrator or trying compatibility wizard. Previously had Express 6.18 on PC but cannot upgrade to 6.20. Mistakenly uninstalled 6.18 thinking it might present the problem, but now cannot find legacy Express software to re-install 6.18. Suggestions?

Not an expert in Garmin, but looks like a .net issue. Fount this:

NET issue for sure. Had to do a total refresh of Windows to allow installation of NET4.8 And, to add to the frustration & time required, NET 4.8 required a 2013 Windows security update that would not install prior to the system refresh. The new Win-8.1 automatically includes the needed update. Such is life with computers these days. 4½+ hours staring at the HD activity light . . . . . . . .

Eidt to note: I should have mentioned issue applied to Garmin BaseCamp as well in case anyone else needs a fix to install either program.
