Not to sure if this is the right place, but over the last couple of weeks i have noticed while playing DVDs after about 50 mins it starts to freeze and unfreeze, if i restart the PC it seems to stop it for a while - Its not the DVD its self it does it on all of them, also does it with bluray as well - so erm any suggestions would be brilliant
Thanks in advance

What is your system specifications? How long have you been using it?
The problems can be caused by many things like programs in the background using most of the memory (RAM) so Windows will have to allocate temporary data (watching the DVD) on the hard disk.
A program you recently installed or Windows' updates downloading and installing while you watch the DVD or a worst scenario could be an infection by virus.

My system specs should be in my profile, there is 16bg ram the system istelf only 10 months old - i havent updated anything for a month and latest MBAM scan came up clear hope this helps

Your system is more than enough for playing DVDs.

I believe that but Windows (plus other programs) is well known for auto updating in the background with patches not being 100% perfect. I would suggest you turn off any auto updates from M$crosoft (also check other programs' settings too) and only download the patches offline.

Maybe it's not a virus infection, also check Windows Defender is up to date.
I suggest you start by downloading Autoruns (it's portable) from M$crosoft's Sysinternals page (it was a Russian computer expert who made it then M$crosoft bought the rights) and check what is happening in your system: Autoruns
Once you start Autoruns you can check "scheduled tasks" then "logon" and so on, and if you don't know the meaning of a task or service, right click on it and search online.
Also check Task Manager and you'll see what program is eating CPU and memory resources.
You could play a video in a reduced window and in another you check Task Manager and see what program is using most of the resources.

Hi
Thanks for your reply i will take a look at the autoruns on friday when i have more time -
Mick
