Does anyone know of a free program for Drafting or Mechanical Drawing?

Nothing big & flashy, just simple to design shelves and entertainment centers on computer.

Thank you.

I use SketchUp Make, it’s the FREE version of SketchUp PRO.
I’m not running WIN8 but I think it will run on 8.

Its a 3-D program but very easy to use.. lots of great videos on YouTube and elsewhere on the internet

Links below for software & great info site with good forum

Thank you Sandhill.
That is an awesome program I hope I can learn to use it. At least a few of the basic tools.
Definetly enough to teach my grandson.

It’s an awesome program, watch some beginner tutorials on YouTube.. That’s how I learned to use it. They have tons of tutorials. The ones by Harwoodpodcast , SketchUpVideo , & 4sketchupgo2school were some of the better ones I used.

I have a lot of AutoCad experience which I think made it more difficult for me to learn SketchUp, so don’t feel like you need any cad background to get the hang of it.
I currently design a lot of woodworking projects in SU and it heads above AutoCad in designing in 3-D

Have Fun
