How to Change Icon Size and Layout Folder View in Windows 8 File Explorer

This will show you how to change the File Explorer (Windows Explorer) folder view settings to what icon size and layout you want in Windows 8.






OPTION ONE

To Change Icon Size & Layout using File Explorer Ribbon


1. In File Explorer, click/tap on the View tab (Alt+V) on the Ribbon.​
2. In the Layout section, select how you would like the file and folder icons to view as in this specific location. (see screenshots below)​

You may need to scroll down in the Layout box to see all options.

OPTION TWO

Change Icon Size & Layout using File Explorer Toolbar Buttons


1. In the bottom right corner of File Explorer, click/tap on either the Details (left) or Large icons (right) button for how you would like the file and folder icons to view as in this specific location. (see screenshots below)​

OPTION THREE

To Change Icons to a Custom Size in File Explorer and on Desktop


1. If you have not already, you will need to have the icons layout set to view with either extra large icons, large icons, Medium icons, or Small icons using either option above first.​
2. In the active File Explorer window or on the desktop, press and hold the Control (CTRL) key and roll your mouse scroll wheel forward and backward to change the size of all icons in this specific location to be larger or smaller. When finished, release the Control key.​
