Solved Folder options

I have a windows 8.1 laptop

i had stored some movies in my external hard disk, but after a few days when I plugged in my hard drive those movies won't show up. I saw few blogs and followed the folder options method and then saw that my files are hidden. I didn't choose the option of hiding them when i was storing movies in it and suddenly these files are hidden and will only appear if i check the option of "view hidden files".

Can someone please explain why does this happen, and are these files a potential threat to my laptop's security ?

Is there any way we can unhide those files so that they appear as normal files?

Hello darn11, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Their hidden attribute was set by something. It could have been the folder and it's content set to be hidden.

If you like, you can use the tutorial below to set their attribute to no longer be hidden. In your situation, using step 7 in OPTION TWO would be the easiest.
